THE RESULTS OF QUARTERLY MANUFACTURING INDUSTRY TENDENCY SURVEY

          (Production  -  Sales  -  Price)

According to the primarily provisional results of 2332  establishment  replied to the quarterly   manufacturing industry tendency survey, rate of capacity utilisation that is weighted by production value, increased from 77.1 % in the third quarter of 2002 to 80.9 % in the third quarter of 2003.

            In the third quarter of 2003,  the biggest  capacity  utilisation weighted by production value was recorded in Manufacture of coke, refined petroleum products, in Manufacture of radio, television and communication equipment
and in Manufacture of wearing apparel with 95.0 %, 90.7 %, 83.7 % respectively.

             A  general  evaluation  has  been  done in  the  written  explanation  on   the  view of  establishments for  the
present  situation  in  the  third  quarter of  2003  and  expectation for  the fourth  quarter of  2003 about the reasons
for not working in full capacity, production, domestic sales, sales prices and raw material prices.

              In the third quarter of 2003,  the reasons  for not working in full capacity comparing to the same  quarter
of previous year,  shortage of demands in domestic market increased from 47.3 %  to  52.5 %  and  shortage   of
demands in foreign market decreased from 21.4 % to 15.4 %, while financial problems  not  changed  with 4.3 %.

               When the weighted average view of the establishments for the third quarter of   2003  compared   to  the
same quarter of the previous year, establishments have thought that their production and domestic sales   increased,
raw material prices and sale prices decreased.

                When  the weighted  average  expectation  of  the  same  establishments  for the fourth quarter of  2003
compared  to  the  same  quarter  of  the  previous  year,  establishments  have  thought  that  their production  will
increase and domestic sales, sale prices and raw material  prices will decrease.

        In the third quarter of 2003, comparing to the data weighted by production value by main sectors , the highest increase  determined  for  production  was recorded in business establishments especially,  in Manufacture of coke, refined  petroleum products and in Manufacture of  office, accounting and computing machinery with 100.0 %  and
in Manufacture of radio, television and communication equipment with  97.6 %. Moreover the highest decrease was observed in Manufacture of other transport equipment with 8.1 % .

        In  the third quarter of 2003, comparing to the data weighted by production value by main sectors, the highest increase determined for domestic sales was recorded in business establishments especially,  in Manufacture of coke, refined  petroleum  products and  in  Manufacture of  machinery  and equipment n.e.c.with  100.0 %.  Moreover the highest decrease was observed in Manufacture of other transport equipment with 8.1 % .

        In  the third  quarter of 2003, comparing  to  the data weighted by production value by main sectors, the highest increase determined for sales prices was recorded in business establishments especially,  in Manufacture of machinery
and  equipment  with  61.7 %,  in Manufacture  of  coke,  refined petroleum products  58.9 %.  Moreover the highest decrease was observed in Manufacture of radio, television and communication equipment with 0.1 % .

        In  the third quarter of  2003, comparing  to  the  data weighted by production value by main sectors, the highest increase  determined  for  raw  material  prices was recorded in business establishments especially,  in Manufacture of basic  metals  and  in  Manufacture of in Manufacture of furniture with  58.3 % and 52.8 % repectively. Moreover the highest decrease was observed in Manufacture of motor vehicles  with 7.8 %.
