THE PRESIDENCY OF STATE INSTITUTE OF STATISTICS HAS
ANNOUNCED THE CERTAIN RESULTS OF THE OFFICIAL FLOWS OF
TURKEY IN 2001 AND PRELAMINIARY RESULTS OF
THE OFFICIAL FLOWS OF TURKEY IN 2002








Official Flows of Turkey was 157 719 252 US $ in 2002. This total consist of Official Grants (39 653 777 US $), Payments to Multilateral Organisations (46 276 182 US $) and Other Official Flows (71 789 293 US $).
 

According to the classifications and standards of Development Assistance Committee (DAC), 26 692 650 US $ was paid to developing countries (Part I), 12 331 494 US $ was paid to transition countries (Part II) and 629 633 US $ was paid to other countries from the total official flows (157 719 252 US $).
 


 

A part of these official flows paid to the Part I countries in order to support development is called as Official Development Assistance (ODA). These payments are recorded as
- grants (project and program aid, technical co-operation, developmental food aid, emergency aid, promotion of development, administrative costs and other),
- non grant official development assistance (loans given by governmental agencies or private foundations, acquisition of equity and other),
- payments to multilateral organisations (grants, subscriptions and concessional lendings).

These values are given in Table 3.

Furthermore, a part of these official flows paid to Part II countries in order to support development is called as Official Aid (OA).

These values are given in Table 4.

According to DAC standards, the ratio of Official Development Assistance (ODA) to Gross National Product (GNP) is an important concept to observe the aid capacity and aid performance of the country. The ODA/GNP ratio is approximately 0.04% in Turkey (OECD average is 0.39%, target of United Nations is 0.70%).
 

Some part of Other Official Flows (50 399 331 US $) were transferred to PartI countries in 2002. This amount consists of loans to national investors (2 381 561 US $) and other transactions (48 017 770 US $) and remaining part of Other Official Flows were transferred to Part II countries in 2002. This amount consist of loans to national investors (21 389 962 US $). These loans vary year by year and by countries.
