SULPHURDIOXIDE
(SO2) AND PARTICULATE MATTER CONCENTRATIONS
IN NOVEMBER
OF 2003
Provincial and district centers having the maximum sulphurdioxide concentrations in November of 2003 are as follows in descending order; Kütahya, Çorum, Çanakkale (City Center), Bingöl and Tekirdağ. For the same period, provincial and district centers having the maximum particulate matter concentrations in descending order stated as Kütahya, Çorum, Bursa (City Center), Balıkesir and Kayseri.
Provincial and district centers having the maximum sulphur dioxide (SO2) and particulate matter (smoke) concentrations in November of 2003 have been given in the table below.

data
for that period have not reached to the Institute.
Provincial and district centers, having the maximum rate of increase in sulphurdioxide concentration in November of 2003 compared to the previous November are; Çorum with 176%, Çanakkale (City Center) with 60%, Kırıkkale with 58%, Tekirdağ with 52% and Bursa (City Center) with 40%. For the same period provincial and district centers, having the maximum rate of decrease in SO2 concentration compared to the previous November, are; Samsun (City Center) with 90%, Bursa (İnegöl) with 50%, Yozgat with 49%, Balıkesir and Isparta with 48% and Niğde (City Center) with 43%.
Provincial and district centers, having the maximum rate of increase in particulate matter concentration in November of 2003 compared to the previous November are; Samsun (City Center) with 154%, Çorum with 118%, Niğde (Bor) with 81%, Tekirdağ with 50% and Bursa (City Center) with 33%. For the same period, provincial and district centers, having the maximum rate of decrease in PM compared to the previous November are; Erzurum with 57%, Aydın with 48%, Erzincan with 46%, Amasya and Kayseri with 43% and Hatay (İskenderun) with 41%.
According to the SO2 concentrations, obtained from the measurement stations, in November of 2003, Target Limit Value (TLV), Short Term Limit Value (STL) and First Warning Level Limit Value (1stWLL) were not exceeded in any of measurement stations in Ankara and İzmir provincial centers, İzmir (Bergama) and İzmir (Ödemiş) district centers.
For the same period, according to the particulate matter concentrations, obtained from the measurement stations, Target Limit Value (TLV) was exceeded in measurement stations of Cebeci, Demetevler, and Sıhhiye in Ankara . But, TLV did not exceed in any measurement stations in İzmir provincial centers, İzmir (Bergama) and İzmir (Ödemiş) district centers. Short Term Limit Value (STL) and First Warning Level Limit Value (1stWLL) was not exceeded in any measurement stations in Ankara and İzmir provincial centers, İzmir (Bergama) and İzmir (Ödemiş) district centers.
Since the sulphur dioxide and particulate matter concentrations could not be measured in İstanbul in November of 2003, no evaluation could be done.
