MAY OF 1998 AND EXPECTATION IN JUNE OF 1998

ACCORDING TO THE STATEMENT OF THE PRESIDENT OF SIS, RATE OF CAPACITY UTILIZATION THAT IS WEIGHTED BY PRODUCTION VALUE,INCREASED FROM 82.6 % IN MAY OF 1997 TO 80.6 % IN MAY OF 1998,FROM THE PRIMARILY PROVISIONAL RESULT OF 651 LARGE SCALE MANUFACTURING INDUSTRIAL ESTABLISHMENTS.


Comparison of the reasons for not working in full capacity to the same month of the previous year is summarized below; in May




A general evaluation has done in the written explanation on the view of establishments for the present situation in May of 1998, expectation and in June of 1998 about production, sales, prices and stocks.


At the evaluation;


When the weighted average view of the establishments for May of 1998 compare to the same month of the previous year, establishments have thought that their production, domestic sales, sale prices and raw material prices decreased.

When the weighted average expectation of the same establishments for June of 1998 compare to the same month of the previous year establishments have thought that their production and domestic sales will increase, raw material and sale prices will decrease.


Percentage distributions of establishments on production are;

While answer of increasing was 66.6 % and decreasing was 15.3 % in May of 1997,
in May of 1998 answer of increasing is 55.4 % and decreasing is 19.3 %

While answer of increasing expectation was 41.1 % and decreasing expectation was 23.2 % in
June of 1997, in June of 1998, answer of increasing expectation is 40.2 % and decreasing
expectation is 24.0 %


Percentage distributions of establishments on domestic sales;

While answer of increasing was 70.1 % and decreasing was 13.3 % in May of 1997,
in May of 1998 answer of increasing is 46.9 % and decreasing is 32.7 %

While answer of increasing expectation was 42.7 % and decreasing expectation was 13.9 %
in June of 1997, in June of 1998, answer of increasing expectation is 47.6 % and decreasing
expectation is 15.0 %


Percentage distributions of establishments on sale prices;

While answer of increasing was 75.9 % and decreasing was 0.2 % in May of 1997,
in May of 1998, answer of increasing is 65.2 % and decreasing is 4.0 %

While answer of increasing expectation was 63.6 % and decreasing expectation was 0.2 % in
June of 1997,in June of 1998, answer of increasing expectation is 64.0 and decrease
expectation is 0.1 %


Percentage distributions of establishments on raw material prices;

While answer of increasing was 77.4 % and decreasing was 0.8 % in May of 1997,
in May of 1998, answer of increasing is 63.5 % and decreasing is 2.6 %

While answer of increasing expectation was 65.9 % and decreasing expectation was 8.4 % in
June of 1997, in June of 1998 answer of increasing expectation is 64.9 % and decreasing
expectation is 0.5 %
