ACCORDING TO THE PROVISIONAL RESULTS OF MONTHLY MANUFACTURING INDUSTRY TENDENCY SURVEY COMPILED FROM 554 ESTABLISHMENTS, THE PRODUCTION WEIGHTED CAPACITY UTILIZATION HAS BEEN DETERMINED TO BE 79.0 % IN JANUARY 1997. THE FIGURE WAS 79.7 % IN THE SAME MONTH OF PREVIOUS YEAR.
The reasons for inability to full capacity utilization are:

28.4 % of the establishments stated an increase while the 52.5 % stated a decrease of production in January 1997. The figures in January 1996 were 35.5 %, and 39.1 %, respectively.
48.3 % of the establishments expect an increase, while 15.7 % expect a decrease in production in February 1997. In February 1996, the expectations were 24.8 %, and 44.6 %, respectively.
