PRESIDENT OF THE STATE INSTITUTE OF STATISTICS EXPLAINED
THE RESULT OF THE QUARTERLY TENDENCY SURVEY WHICH REFLECT VIEW OF THE ESTABLISHMENTS  IN  THE MANUFACTURING  INDUSTRY  ON  PRODUCTION,  SALES,
STOCKS AND PRICES FOR THE REALISATION IN  THE FOURTH QUARTER
( OCTOBER - NOVEMBER - DECEMBER)  OF  2001  AND  EXPECTATION   FOR   THE   FIRST  QUARTER      ( JANUARY - FEBRUARY - MARCH )  OF  2002

     ACCORDING   TO   THE  STATEMENT  OF  THE PRESIDENT OF SIS, RATE OF CAPACITY
UTILIZATION  THAT  IS  WEIGHTED  BY  PRODUCTION  VALUE,  DECREASED  FROM 78.1
%  IN  THE  FOURTH  QUARTER OF   2000 TO  73.5 %   IN THE  FOURTH QUARTER OF 2001,
FROM THE PRIMARILY PROVISIONAL RESULT OF 2023 LARGE SCALE MANUFACTURING INDUSTRIAL ESTABLISHMENTS.

Comparison of the reasons for not working in full capacity to the same quarter of the previous year is
summarized below;

from     49.1  %  to  53.5  %  Shortage of demands in domestic market
from     15.6  %  to  13.1  %  Shortage of demands in foreign market
from       4.9  %  to    4.8  %  Financial problems
from       4.5  %  to    4.2  %  Shortage of raw domestic materials
from       3.2  %  to    2.4  %  Labor problems
from       2.1  %  to    1.8  %  Shortage of raw imported materials


A general evaluation has done in the written explanation on the view of establishments for the present
situation in the fourth quarter of 2001  and expectation  in the first quarter of 2002 about production,
domestic sales, sales prices and raw material prices.

At the evaluation;
Percentage distrubitions of establishments on production are;

While answer of increasing was 43.4 % and decreasing was 41.3 % in the fourth quarter of 2000,
in the same quarter of 2001, answer of increasing is 50.4 % and decreasing is 35.5 %

While answer of increasing expectation was 35.1 % and decreasing expectation was 35.8 %  in the
first  quarter of 2001, in the same quarter of 2002, answer of increasing expectation is 37.1 %  and
decreasing expectation is 32.5 %

Percentage distrubitions of establishments on domestic sales;

While answer of increasing was 31.5 % and decreasing was 52.9 % in the fourth quarter of 2000,
in the same quarter of 2001, answer of increasing is 31.8 % and decreasing is 51.3 %

While answer of increasing expectation was 30.8 % and decreasing expectation was 36.3 %  in the
first  quarter of 2001, in the same quarter of 2002, answer of increasing expectation is 34.9 % and
decreasing expectation is 30.0 %

Percentage distrubitions of establishments on sale prices;

While answer of increasing was 59.3 % and decreasing was 7.7 % in the fourth quarter of 2000,
in the same quarter of 2001, answer of increasing is 62.6 % and decreasing is 16.6 %

While answer of increasing expectation was 63.3 % and decreasing expectation was 2.0 %  in the
first  quarter of 2001, in the same quarter of 2002, answer of increasing expectation is 61.0 % and
decreasing expectation is 3.2 %

Percentage distrubitions of establishments on raw material prices;

While answer of increasing was 64.4 % and decreasing was 5.5 % in the fourth quarter of 2000,
in the same quarter of 2001, answer of increasing is 59.3 % and decreasing is 18.5 %

While answer of increasing expectation was 58.8 % and decreasing expectation was 6.2 %  in the
first  quarter of 2001, in the same quarter of 2002, answer of increasing expectation is 59.6 % and
decreasing expectation is 2.8 %
