PRESIDENT OF THE STATE INSTITUTE OF STATISTICS EXPLAINED
THE RESULT OF THE QUARTERLY TENDENCY SURVEY WHICH REFLECT
VIEW OF THE ESTABLISHMENTS IN MANUFACTURING INDUSTRY ON
PRODUCTION, SALES, STOCKS AND PRICES FOR THE REALISATION IN
THE THIRD QUARTER (JULY-AUGUST-SEPTEMBER)OF 1998 AND EXPECTATION FOR
THE FOURTH QUARTER (OCTOBER-NOVEMBER-DECEMBER) OF 1998

ACCORDING TO THE STATEMENT OF THE PRESIDENT OF SIS, RATE OF CAPACITY UTILIZATION THAT IS WEIGHTED BY PRODUCTION VALUE, DECREASED FROM 80.9 % IN THE THIRD QUARTER OF 1997 TO 77.6 % IN THIRD QUARTER OF 1998, FROM THE PRIMARILY PROVISIONAL RESULT OF 2050 LARGE SCALE MANUFACTURING INDUSTRIAL ESTABLISHMENTS.


Comparison of the reasons for not working in full capacity to the same quarter of the previous year is summarized below;





A general evaluation has done in the written explanation on the view of establishments
for the present situation in the third of 1998 and expectation in the fourth quarter
of 1998 about production, sales, prices and stocks.


At the evaluation;


Percentage distributions of establishments on production are;

While answer of increasing was 63.1 % and decreasing was 23.1 % in the third quarter
of 1997,in the same quarter of 1998,answer of increasing is 51.2 % and decreasing is 31.9 %

While answer of increasing expectation was 54.0 % and decreasing expectation was 18.2 %
in the fourth quarter of 1997, in the same quarter of 1998, answer of increasing expectation
is 52.2 % and decreasing expectation is 21.7 %


Percentage distributions of establishments on domestic sales;

While answer of increasing was 58.5 % and decreasing was 25.8 % in the third quarter
of 1997,in the same quarter of 1998,answer of increasing is 44.1 % and decreasing is 39.2 %

While answer of increasing expectation was 46.8 % and decreasing expectation was 25.9 %
in the fourth quarter of 1997, in the same quarter of 1998, answer of increasing expectation
is 45.7 % and decreasing expectation is 27.4 %


Percentage distributions of establishments on sale prices;

While answer of increasing was 90.4 % and decreasing was 0.6 % in the third quarter of
1997, in the same quarter of 1998, answer of increasing is 72.5 % and decreasing is 4.1 %

While answer of increasing expectation was 81.6 % and decreasing expectation was 0.7 %
in the third quarter of 1997, in the same quarter of 1998, answer of increasing expectation
is 67.7 % and decreasing expectation is 1.5 %


Percentage distributions of establishments on raw material prices;

While answer of increasing was 91.3 % and decreasing was 1.4 % in the third quarter of
1997,in the same quarter of 1998, answer of increasing is 72.8 % and decreasing is 5.1 %

While answer of increasing expectation was 81.4 % and decreasing expectation was 0.1 %
in the fourth quarter of 1997, in the same quarter of 1998, answer of increasing expectation
is 67.8 % anddecreasing expectation is 1.6 %
