PRESIDENT OF THE STATE INSTITUTE OF STATISTICS EXPLAINED THE RESULT OF THE QUARTERLY TENDENCY SURVEY WHICH REFLECT VIEW OF THE ESTABLISHMENTS IN MANUFACTURING INDUSTRY ON PRODUCTION, SALES, STOCKS AND PRICES FOR THE REALISATION IN THE FOURTH QUARTER (OCTOBER - NOVEMBER - DECEMBER ) OF 1997 AND EXPECTATION FOR THE FIRST QUARTER ( JANUARY - FEBRUARY - MARCH) OF 1998


ACCORDING TO THE STATEMENT OF THE PRESIDENT OF SIS, RATE OF CAPACITY UTILIZATION THAT IS WEIGHTED BY PRODUCTION VALUE, INCREASED FROM 79.3 % IN THE FOURTH QUARTER OF 1996 TO 80.3 % IN FOURTH QUARTER OF 1997, FROM THE PRIMARILY PROVISIONAL RESULT OF 1946 LARGE SCALE MANUFACTURING INDUSTRIAL ESTABLISHMENTS.


Comparison of the reasons for not working in full capacity to the same quarter of the previous year is summarized below;




A general evaluation has done in the written explanation on the view of establishments for the present situation in the fourth quarter of 1997 and expectation in the first quarter of 1998 about production, sales, prices and stocks.

At the evaluation;

Percentage distributions of establishments on production are;

While answer of increasing was 63.6 % and decreasing was 20.8 % in the fourth quarter of 1996,
in the same quarter of 1997, answer of increasing is 60.9 % and decreasing is 24.7 %

While answer of increasing expectation was 44.2 % and decreasing expectation was 28.1 % in the
first quarter of 1997, in the same quarter of 1998, answer of increasing expectation is 40.9 % and
decreasing expectation is 28.9 %


Percentage distributions of establishments on domestic sales;

While answer of increasing was 57.1 % and decreasing was 25.3 % in the fourth quarter of 1996,
in the same quarter of 1997, answer of increasing is 39.2 % and decreasing is 43.1 %

While answer of increasing expectation was 39.5 % and decreasing expectation was 31.6 % in the
first quarter of 1997, in the same quarter of 1998, answer of increasing expectation is 33.5 % and
decreasing expectation is 36.4 %

Percentage distributions of establishments on sale prices;

While answer of increasing was 83.2 % and decreasing was 1.1 % in the fourth quarter of 1996,
in the same quarter of 1997, answer of increasing is 87.7 % and decreasing is 1.8 %

While answer of increasing expectation was 76.5 % and decreasing expectation was 0.4 % in
the first quarter of 1997, in the same quarter of 1998, answer of increasing expectation is
70.7 % and decreasing expectation is 1.0 %

Percentage distributions of establishments on raw material prices;

While answer of increasing was 86.8 % and decreasing was 1.0 % in the fourth quarter of 1996,
in the same quarter of 1997, answer of increasing is 89.5 % and decreasing is 1.7 %

While answer of increasing expectation was 84.6 % and decreasing expectation was 0.5 % in
the first quarter of 1997, in the same quarter of 1998, answer of increasing expectation is
81.9 % and decreasing expectation is 1.0 %
