PRESIDENT OF THE STATE INSTITUTE OF STATISTICS EXPLAINED THE RESULT OF THE QUARTERLY TENDENCY SURVEY WHICH REFLECT VIEW OF THE ESTABLISHMENTS IN MANUFACTURING INDUSTRY ON PRODUCTION, SALES, STOCKS AND PRICES FOR THE REALISATION IN THE FIRST QUARTER (JANUARY - FEBRUARY - MARCH) OF 1998 AND EXPECTATION FOR THE FIRST QUARTER ( APRIL - MAY - JUNE) OF 1998

ACCORDING TO THE STATEMENT OF THE PRESIDENT OF SIS, RATE OF CAPACITY UTILIZATION THAT IS WEIGHTED BY PRODUCTION VALUE, INCREASED FROM 76.8 % IN THE FIRST QUARTER OF 1997 TO 77.5 % IN FIRST QUARTER OF 1998, FROM THE PRIMARILY PROVISIONAL RESULT OF 1890 LARGE SCALE MANUFACTURING INDUSTRIAL ESTABLISHMENTS.

Comparison of the reasons for not working in full capacity to the same quarter of the previous year is summarized below;

A general evaluation has done in the written explanation on the view of establishments for the present situation in the first quarter of 1998 and expectation in the second quarter of 1998 about production, sales, prices and stocks.

At the evaluation;

Percentage distributions of establishments on production are;

While answer of increasing was 37.2 % and decreasing was 44.7 % in the first quarter of 1997,
in the same quarter of 1998, answer of increasing is 33.8 % and decreasing is 48.8 %

While answer of increasing expectation was 69.4 % and decreasing expectation was 8.2 % in the
second quarter of 1997, in the same quarter of 1998, answer of increasing expectation is 60.6 % and
decreasing expectation is 17.4 %

Percentage distributions of establishments on domestic sales;

While answer of increasing was 33.2 % and decreasing was 48.1 % in the first quarter of 1997,
in the same quarter of 1998, answer of increasing is 34.5 % and decreasing is 50.5 %

While answer of increasing expectation was 69.5 % and decreasing expectation was 8.6 % in the
second quarter of 1997, in the same quarter of 1998, answer of increasing expectation is 69.1 % and
decreasing expectation is 10.5 %

Percentage distributions of establishments on sale prices;

While answer of increasing was 85.9 % and decreasing was 1.1 % in the first quarter of 1997,
in the same quarter of 1998, answer of increasing is 60.3 % and decreasing is 2.7 %

While answer of increasing expectation was 77.5 % and decreasing expectation was 0.4 % in
the second quarter of 1997, in the same quarter of 1998, answer of increasing expectation is
62.2 % and decreasing expectation is 0.3 %

Percentage distributions of establishments on raw material prices;

While answer of increasing was 84.7 % and decreasing was 5.8 % in the first quarter of 1997,
in the same quarter of 1998, answer of increasing is 78.5 % and decreasing is 4.8 %

While answer of increasing expectation was 81.9 % and decreasing expectation was 0.6 % in
the second quarter of 1997, in the same quarter of 1998, answer of increasing expectation is
68.0 % and decreasing expectation is 1.9 %
