THE RESULT OF THE QUARTERLY TENDENCY SURVEY WHICH REFLECT VIEW
OF THE ESTABLISHMENTS IN THE MANUFACTURING INDUSTRY ON CAPACITY UTILISATION,
PRODUCTION, SALES AND PRICES FOR THE REALISATION IN THE SECOND
QUARTER
( APRIL- MAY - JUNE ) OF 2003 AND EXPECTATION
FOR THE THIRD QUARTER
( JULY- AUGUST - SEPTEMBER ) OF 2003
ACCORDING TO THE STATEMENT OF THE PRESIDENT OF SIS, RATE OF CAPACITY UTILIZATION THAT IS WEIGHTED BY PRODUCTION VALUE, INCREASED FROM 75.9 % IN THE SECOND QUARTER OF 2002 TO 78.0 % IN THE SECOND QUARTER OF 2003, FROM THE PRIMARILY PROVISIONAL RESULT OF 2223 LARGE SCALE MANUFACTURING INDUSTRIAL ESTABLISHMENTS

A general evaluation has been done in the written explanation on the view of establishments for the present situation in the second quarter of 2003 and expectation for the third quarter of 2003 about the reasons for not working in full capacity, production, domestic sales, sales prices and raw material prices.

In the second quarter of 2003, the reasons for not working in full capacity comparing to the same quarter of previous year, shortage of demands in domestic market increased from 52.0 % to 58.7 % and shortage of demands in foreign market increased from 13.2 % to 14.3 %, while financial problems fell from 4.7 % to 3.3 %.

When the weighted average view of the establishments for the second quarter of 2003 compared to the same quarter of the previous year, establishments have thought that their production and domestic sales increased, raw material prices and sale prices decreased.
When the weighted average expectation of the same establishments for the third quarter of 2003 compared to the same quarter of the previous year establishments have thought that their production will increase and domestic sales, sale prices and raw material prices will decrease.
In the second quarter
of 2003, comparing to the data weighted by production value
by main sectors , the highest increase determined
for production was recorded in
business establishments especially, in Manufacture
of radio, television and communication
equipment and in Manufacture
of motor vehicles with
99.1 % and 97.0 % repectively.Moreover
the highest decrease was observed in Manufacture of wood and of products
of wood and cork with 18.2 % .
In the second quarter of 2003, comparing to the data weighted by production value by main sectors, the highest increase determined for domestic sales was recorded in business establishments especially, in Manufacture of radio, television and communication equipment and in Manufacture of machinery and equipment n.e.c with 99.1 % and 90.2 % repectively.Moreover the highest decrease was observed in Manufacture of wearing apparel with 26.0 % .
In the second quarter of 2003, comparing to the data weighted by production value by main sectors, the highest increase determined for sales prices was recorded in business establishments especially, Manufacture of machinery and equipment n.e.c and in Manufacture of motor vehicles with 73.3 % and 71.8 % repectively.Moreover the highest decrease was observed in Manufacture of coke, refined petroleum products with 3.1 % .
In the second quarter
of 2003, comparing to the data weighted by
production value by main sectors, the highest increase determined
for raw material prices was recorded in
business establishments especially, in Manufacture
of wood and products of wood and cork
and in Manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products
with 85.3 % and 62.0 % repectively.Moreover the highest
decrease was observed in Manufacture of radio, television and communication
equipment with 0.3 % .
