PERSONS NOT IN LABOUR FORCE

When the distribution of persons not in labour force was examined in certain main groups, housewives with 49.3% (12 million 852 thousand persons) comprise a considerable part of the persons not in the labour force. This was followed by students, retired persons and disabled with 13.5%, 12% and 9.7% respectively.
51.7% of persons not in labour force were housewives in urban areas. This was followed by students, retired persons and disabled with 15.6%, 14.5% and 6.5% respectively. In rural areas, 44.7% of persons not in labour force were housewives. This was followed by disabled people, students and retired persons with 16.1%, 9.4% and 7% respectively.
