Technical assistance projects have been prepared on the basis of needs and requirements of the transition countries and implemented since 1994 with the financial support of Turkish International Cooperation Agency (TICA). |

The protocol was signed on April 5, 1996 between the State Institute of Statistics (SIS), TICA and Bosnia-Herzegovina Republic/Federation State Institute of Statistics. The activities of the project were interrupted in 1999. Then, it has been requested to sign a new protocol by Bosnia-Herzegovina (B&H) due to the change in the structure of the Institute of B&H. The realized activities are given in below: Consultancy Service: Totally 19 experts of SIS were assigned
in Bosnia-Herzegovina Statistical Office for short-term consultancy service. |
Georgia |

The protocol on the collaboration in the field of statistics between SIS and State Department for Statistics of Georgia was signed on July 14, 1997. As a difference from the other protocols, the parties covered the travel and accommodation expenses of their experts according to this bilateral agreement. The activities anticipated in this project have been finished in 1999. The activities realized in this context are as follows: Consultancy Service: Totally 6 experts of SIS were assigned
in Georgia Statistical Office for short-term consultancy
service. Training Programs: Totally 3 experts from Georgia
Statistical Office participated to the training programmes, meetings and
courses organized in SIS. |

The activities realized in the context of the technical assistance program for the Mongolia Statistical Office in 1998 and 1999 with financial support of TICA are given in below: Consultancy Service: Totally 6 experts of SIS were assigned
in Mongolia Statistical Office for short-term consultancy

Macedonia |

The cooperation protocol in the field of statistics between the State Institute of Statistics (SIS), the Statistical Office of Macedonia (SOM) and TICA was signed on December 25, 1997. The technical assistance program was completed in June 2001. The activities realized in this context are given in below: Consultancy Service: Totally 17 experts of SIS were assigned
in Macedonia Statistical Office for short-term consultancy

Bosnia-Herzegovina |

A new protocol in the field of statistics for Bosnia and Herzegovina was signed on October 31, 2001 and promulgated on February 17, 2002 by issuing in the Turkish Official Gazette. The technical assistance programme will be implemented in Sarajevo, Banja Luka and Ankara in order to improve and develop official statistics of Bosnia and Herzegovina including support in the following statistical domains through consultancy services and training programmes: National accounts, collection of statistical and economic data, data processing and publication and preparation of statistical programmes. In the frame of the project, two consultancy services on industrial statistics and price statistics were realized in June and July 2002 respectively. |
